There is no doubt that both employers and Admissions Tutors in universities can be be
more impressed by teenagers who have organised their own trip abroad than those who have not shown such initiative.
However, it is also clear that some young people who undertake really exciting and adventerous periods of travel find it difficult to express what they have done, either on an application form or in an interview.
To help students plan their trip and to ensure that they make the best use of the time away, we have produced the Gap Year Journey Planner.
It has two unique benefits.
Firstly, it gives a framework into which the travelling can be organised and details of arrangements written down.
Secondly, it ensures that the planning side of the travel is recorded. This is the part that will be of great benefit when it comes to applying for university or a job, because it will mean that all the work in setting up the trip can be recalled.
